What is Hazardous area classification?
In process plants handling flammable Gases, vapors, mists and dusts can all form explosive atmospheres with air. Hazardous area classification is used to identify places where, because of the potential for an explosive atmosphere, special precautions over sources of ignition (instruments, pumps, compressor, blowers, light fittings, etc) are needed to prevent fires and explosions.
Regulation, Code and Standard Requirement
CCOE approval for plot plan for plant handling flammable materials requires “Hazardous Area Classification drawing” for the plant. This drawing can be prepared based on guidelines specified in standards like NFPA497, API500/505, IS 5571/5572.
What we can offer?
We prepare Hazardous area classification drawing with List of sources according to IP15 / NFPA497 / IS5572.
- Based on equipment list, chemicals handled “List of Hazardous Sources” can be prepared.
- The classified area is marked on the plot plan based on the standard guideline.
With help of this drawing we can optimize the location of big machines to safe area and save cost for unclassified equipment against classified one.
